Connecticut’s Invisalign Specialists
Being afraid to smile or meet new people because of crooked or crowded teeth is no way to go through life. Invisalign clear plastic aligners are a gentle, discreet, convenient way to transform your smile without all the lifestyle limitations and food restrictions associated with traditional braces. As a certified Invisalign provider, Dr. Kostrzewski and Dr. Spennato at The Center for Complete Health Dentistry @ Wilton routinely use Invisalign to help patients receive the gift of a straight, beautiful, healthy-looking smile they can’t wait to show off in pictures.
What is Invisalign?
Invisalign is an alternative method of straightening crooked teeth that does not involve wearing fixed metal braces. First introduced more than 20 years ago, Invisalign is one of the most advanced clear aligner systems in the world. Unlike traditional braces, Invisalign clear aligners are removable and virtually invisible and don’t require any wires or brackets.
The removable feature of Invisalign’s revolutionary trays allows you to brush and floss with ease while eating all your favorite foods. Best of all, once your Invisalign treatment is through, you’ll have the straight, beautiful, natural-looking smile you’ve always wanted!
Is Invisalign Better Than Braces?
Invisalign isn’t for everyone, and it can’t fix every problem. The best way to determine if Invisalign is right for you is by scheduling an orthodontic screening with one of our dentists. If the level of malocclusion or misalignment correction needed requires that you be fitted with traditional braces, you will be referred to a reputable orthodontist in the area.
At The Center for Complete Health Dentistry @ Wilton, we have seen some amazing results over the years in our Invisalign patients. Here are some of the things they liked about Invisalign clear plastic aligners versus wearing traditional braces:
- Very comfortable
- Virtually undetectable
- Minimal lifestyle disruptions
- Ease-of-care
- No food restrictions
- Can be removed for brushing, flossing, and eating
Alternatives to Invisalign
We offer these teeth-straightening methods in addition to Invisalign:
What is the Process for Getting Invisalign?
If you are a candidate for Invisalign, one of our dentists will ensure that you are fitted properly. Here’s a snapshot of what to expect as your course-of-treatment plays out:
- We will forward your complete dental records, including impressions, pictures, radiographs, and prescriptions, to the Invisalign lab so that a precise, 3-D rendering of your teeth and mouth can be created.
- At the Invisalign lab, your aligner trays will be custom-designed with computer-aided precision to ensure maximum comfort and performance. Once your trays are ready, you will be contacted by our office.
- You will need to wear your Invisalign aligners 20 to 22 hours per day, including while you are asleep, and to only remove them for eating, brushing, and flossing. A failure to follow those guidelines could result in an extended course of treatment.
How Long Do I Need to Wear Invisalign Correctors for?
On average, most of our Invisalign patients achieve their teeth-straightening goals within 6 to 24 months. During that time, you will need to schedule periodic follow-up visits with our dentists to ensure optimal results and to receive your next set (phase) of aligner trays. When the initial level of smile correction needed is more pronounced after your Invisalign treatment is over you may need to wear a nighttime retainer for several additional months.
